How to Increase Your Chance of Success With Your Next Garden or Landscaping Project
There are different methods used to improve soil quality and stimulate root and plant growth. Fertilizer, for example, is used to enhance plant growth in two different ways. The first is through using nutritive-rich additives, and the second is through modifying aeration and water retention.
Nutrients Required by Plants
In order to take root and thrive, there are six basic nutrients needed by plants. They are able to receive carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen from the air and water. The other necessary nutrients for plant growth are nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. When these nutrients aren’t present in the soil to the degree they’re needed, the right type of fertilizer can make up the difference.
Different Types of Fertilizer
The existing soil condition, along with the types of plants and trees, will determine the nutrients needed. Given this, it’s important to pay attention to fertilizer labels. When home gardeners and landscapers purchase 4 1 2 fertilizer, for example, this refers to the percentage of nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium that is contained within that specific bag of fertilizer. A bag labeled as 4 1 2 fertilizer, therefore, would contain four percent nitrogen, two percent phosphorous, and one percent potassium.
Root Growth Stimulators
For over 70 years, IBA, which is a plant hormone, has been used for a variety of applications. Currently, it is almost always used as a plant root stimulator. In order to stimulate root growth, a combination of IBA and vitamin B1 are combined. This can increase root growth in most plant species by 30%. Furthermore, it can also increase root growth in hardwood plants and trees by 50%.
There are other benefits to using IBA. In addition to increasing the growth rate of young plants, it can also reduce the mortality rate of seedlings at the same time. This mortality rate can be reduced by as much as 60%.
Learn How to Feed Rooting Plants
Before you begin your landscaping or garden project, it would be a good idea to learn more about soil enhancement and fertilizer for root growth. If you’re planning to work alongside a professional landscaper, they will be able to provide you with detailed information on exactly what you need. This will, of course, depend on the types of plants and trees you would like to have growing in your yard.
