One of the main reasons people invest in well water filtration systems is for water purification purposes, to get the contaminants out of their water. While these folks recognize the dangers that contaminated water can pose, many others do not, believing that well water filter systems are a waste of money.

To be blunt, these folks are wrong. Here’s why.

Cryptosporidium.

Cryptosporidium is a microorganism that can cause gastrointestinal illness. If drunk, it can cause people to suffer from diarrhea, vomiting, and cramps. As gross as that is, where it comes from is even worse. Cryptosporidium comes from human and animal fecal waste. In other words, if it’s present in a person’s drinking water, that means human and animal fecal waste somehow affected it.

Legionella.

Another microorganism, Legionella causes Legionnaire’s Disease, a severe form of pneumonia. It can cause patients to suffer from headaches, muscle pains, chills, and even a fever that may exceed 104 degrees Fahrenheit. And that’s just what it begins with. By the second or third day, patients could develop a bloody cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, gastrointestinal symptoms, and confusion or other mental health effects.

Mercury.

Some water may even be contaminated with mercury, which can cause kidney damage. This awful water contaminant comes from erosion of natural deposits, discharge from refineries and factories, and runoff from landfills and croplands.

Rather than run the risks of drinking these horrifying contaminants, it’s a much smarter idea to get well water filtration systems installed, which will stop these — and more — nasty impurities from affecting a person’s health.

Plus, well water filtration systems also provide many other benefits. They can help families save money, eliminating the need for bottled water and making appliances run more efficiently.

What more could there be to think about? If you have any questions about the advantages of water purification, feel free to share in the comments.
