What Your Windows Need is a Makeover!

When you look at your window treatments, are you happy with what you see? Are your drapes dingy and old? Do your blinds have a inch of dust on them? Have your shutters warped over time?

If you answered no first, and then yes to the other questions, it may be time to make a change.

If you want to redo your window treatments to match the latest trends, here are few ideas to get the ball rolling.

  • Velvet. You don’t have to think of Victorian times to picture what this would look like. Instead, update your vision to a color that catches the eye, but also adds a touch of luxury to your windows. You can pick from darker shades that help to block out the sun, or lighter ones that will keep the UV rays out, but let in just enough light.
  • Puddled Drapes. This may sound confusing, but it is exactly what you imagine: a puddle of drapes. If you install drapes, you may want to try to leave extra room for the drapes to puddle, or bunch on the floor. You don’t have to have tons of it everywhere — just a little extra fabric can give your room a flow-y feeling, and give it just a hint of elegance, much like a train on a wedding gown.
  • Patterns. One way to make your living room pop is to put up curtains that have different patterns on them. The latest trends show that by contrasting your room with patterns, you can give it a whimsical look that will change up the feel of your entire house. Giraffe spots and zebra stripes may sound a bit odd, but may go perfectly with a modern decor.

So, don’t keep looking at your outdated drapes. Do some measurements, get to the store, and start redesigning your windows. Research more here.
