Common AC Unit Woes

Ac blower motor replacement

Since summer is underway, you probably have your air conditioning unit running constantly. There’s nothing wrong with this, of course, but keep in mind that residential AC units may need air conditioning repair every now and then, especially if they are running 24 hours a day.

Here are some of the most common residential AC troubleshooting issues that you can expect.

  • AC Filters. You will find that AC air filter replacement will be a fairly routine part of maintaining your AC unit. If you feel that the air is not cooling properly, the first thing you may want to check is the air filter. The filter catches all the excess debris and dirt that flows through your air, so if it is clogged, the air will probably not cool your home sufficiently.
  • AC Coils. Like the air filter, you may need AC coil replacement if your system doesn’t seem to be working properly. The coils are what actually cool the air as it passes through your AC unit. If the coils are rusty, or full of dust that the filter is unable to catch, they will not be able to cool your air to the right temperature.
  • Noises. Most AC units function with minimal noise, especially newer ones. If you hear your unit making clunking or squeaky sounds, you may need to have your unit checked by a professional. The motor may need repair, or there could be parts that have become loose that either need to be tightened, or replaced altogether.

These are some of the main residential AC troubleshooting issues you will run into, and the key to avoiding complete AC replacement is taking care of these problems as soon as they arise. You don’t want to have to spend money on a brand new AC unit if you can avoid it — it can be costly. More like this blog.
